Grammarly editor is powered by Artificial Intelligence and is far better than any other editor available in the market. With all these features, there is no doubt that Grammarly is good for students.

However, the question is whether to purchase the premium plan or not.

With the free plan, you get access to a web-based editor and the browser plugin for Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. This plugin integrates beautifully with Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Facebook, Messenger, Yahoo Mail, WordPress, and several other writing platforms.

As of today, it does not work with Google Docs and I believe it will not work in the near future. As a writer, Google Docs is my go-to editor, and I feel neglected. To me, this is a huge drawback of Grammarly.

To understand the difference between the Free and the Premium plan, I copied a small text from my writing and pasted it in both the Free and the Premium editors. The text was 144 words long.

Below, I am sharing the screenshot from Grammarly’s free editor.

As you can see, there are 7 Critical Issues detected by the editor. However, there are 6 Advanced Issues that have not been addressed. You have to upgrade your subscription to resolve these issues.

At this point, I was doubtful as the corrected copy looked good to me. I was thinking about whether it was a legitimate suggestion or a marketing gimmick.

So, I reopened the same text in the Premium editor. A screenshot is given below.

As you can see, there are indeed 13 suggestions, including vocabulary suggestions and other alerts. Moreover, there is are tabs that show Flesch Reading Score and Overall Performance Score.

On the right bottom side, there is a Plagiarism Detector that compares your article with a database of more than 16 billion online documents. This makes it virtually impossible to pass any plagiarism issue.

Grammarly for Chrome is a browser plugin for Google Chrome which makes Grammarly omnipresent on any writing platform. It integrates beautifully with Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, WordPress, and many other writing platforms. Unfortunately, there is no support for Google Docs, which I use regularly.

You can keep the plugin active or muted. There is an option to show definitions and synonyms. I found this facility very helpful.
